Day 1: Maputo

With its splendid artistic architecture and its splendid position on a hill overlooking the Bay of Maputo, Maputo was once the Riviera of southern Africa. The ancient charm and the Portuguese and African mix in people and in food are evident.

Early in the morning, departure for Bazaruto. Transportation by private vehicle to the Maputo Int. Airport. Flight to Vilanculos and transport to the island of Bazaruto

Day 2-3: Bazaruto Archipelago, Luxury Resort

Bazaruto (Portuguese: Ilha do Bazaruto, from Ushurutswa, fog island) is a sandy island located about 80 kilometers southeast of the mouth of the Save river in Mozambique. It is the largest island of the Bazaruto Archipelago and is located in the Bazaruto National Park. The warm current of Mozambique, which flows southwards, seems to contribute to the growth of the sandy coast. Since the water along this coastal area is very clear, most of the sub-surface channel model that surrounds the island is recognizable. The coastal plains show numerous lakes and a marshy environment that appears to be a karst topography. Below the area is the limestone that has eroded into a pockmarked landscape, creating sinkholes full of water.
Overnight: Resort within the Bazaruto archipelago, a jewel, 30 kilometers east of the continent of Mozambique on the east coast of Africa, the Resort is located on a 12,000 hectare island paradise. 37 kilometers long and up to seven kilometers wide, Bazaruto is the largest island in the archipelago. A declared part of the Bazaruto Archipelago National Park protected in 1971, and not a shop in sight, guests find themselves immersed in a tropical paradise in a world apart.
